Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
More Freedom in an apt. Also, I would have preferred sharing a quaint house with other students.

Too many rules while living on campus. Cleaning maids and university rules make you wonder if you are in Uni or some kind of bording school.

Live with english students. There will be plenty of opportunity to get to know other international students. This way you can have the best of both worlds. You'll want to buy a wetsuit and go surfing. Make sure you get a Int'l drivers permit so you can rent a car and check out the country side and seaside villages. Take the ferry to Cornwall and hike the coastal path to the next town, have a pint and enjoy the view. Also: Jelly Jazz at the Quay Club and some special events on Union Street. Don't be afraid of Union Street, just take a cab. Start visiting the surrounding towns in Cornwall/Devon early - there is a lot to see. Join a club, but be sure they are organised - many are not. The ski club is pretty good. They meet every week in a pub and get together for at least one big ski trip. Football is well organised and I think the SUBA club is getting better (thanks to Seb, or course).

Personal spending habits
Food and basic services are a bit more expensive - not much. I travelled more and went out 4-5 days a week, so that's why I spent more than usual in those categories.

The Library closes at 5pm, so don't expect to be able to study there. Tech facilities are good, but if something doesn't work, don't hold your breath and wait for it to be fixed.

Final comments
Increase your budget. It costs money to rent cars, travel, drink and be merry. You don't want to find yourself sitting at home because you don't have money to go out and get the experience you deserve.

Personal comments
When I arrived, I agreed with the English that British English is superior to the American version. By the end of the year I had changed my mind.
