The opening ceremony of Jan Evangelist Purkynì University of the North
Bohemian city of Ústí nad Labem took place on Saint Venceslav's Day,
the September 28th 1991. The University was named after one of the
greatest Czech scientists of the 19th century, the philosopher and teacher
Jan Evangelist Purkynì (1787 " 1869).
