One of the best experiences of my life. The University were really good to us. I met lots of wonderful people from all over the world and did many activities that I would never have had the chance to do at home. Academically, things will improove for the Erasmus programme as Charles University has some of the best lectures and students in the world. Staff were very helpful. Czech students are generally quite reserved and shy and it can be quite hard to make friends. Being a foreign student put you in a very positive financial situation and you have to be sensitive to locals and students, compared to their financial situation.

Staff were very helpful and friendly at the University. Czech people could be describe as generally quite reserved and quite difficult to get to know, but you will meet some really nice locals. Prague is a beautiful city but is becoming more and more commercial. Be aware of the centre for rip off prices and rudeness. Also sleaze is on the increase with the influx of the rich western tourist. Despite that Prague still is a vibrant city so much to do. I have met people from all over the world who I will stay in contact with forever. Prague created a community in the true sense of what the European Community and of course, the Erasmus programme set out to achieve. Bonding and interacting from all over Europe and the world. It was such an amazing experience. I would recommend it to everyone. It will really change you life!!

When buying and adapter for the electricity be very careful. Voltage electricity is different than the majority of European countries. I blew out three floors of electricity in the hotel because I didn't know.

I wish I had known...
I have this philosophy of no regrets. If I were to do it all over again, including all roadblocks, I would not change a thing. The excitement of not knowing anything, including what to expect and being lost in culture shock was such an intense and exhilarating experience. It's embedded in my heart and words can never suffice.

Just read up a bit on it and make sure that you find out what's available for you as a student/traveller.

There's really no formula to studying abroad. It's really all up to you (the individual) to decipher what sort of journey you want to have. Obviously, your curiousity has brought you to this page. My only advice is this, wherever you go in life and on this planet, be like a 3D journal, each day an empty page. And let your surroundings, your thoughts, the people you encounter along your journey to color your pages with life, experience, and beauty. In the end, you can only look back and see a masterpiece.

Travel! It is quite cheap by bus and many central European cities are only about 5 hours away.

I wish I knew how difficult it would be to meet locals. Meeting people while traveling was easy, such as in hostels, bars, and on tours, but in Prague, the complexity of the culture as well as the language barrier prevented a meeting more locals.

Don't expect a very rigorous course of study, as the English-speaking department is rather new and not the focus of the university. Take classes that you might not take -- art history, theatre -- to experience Czech culture.

Go to Berlin -- 4 hours from Prague. Europe is still cold in May, so bring a warm jacket.
