I felt comfortable speaking english and after a while I could also speak basic swedish. You can hear English on the TV, people speak it very well compared to my country, so it's quite easy to learn it on the go.

Sweden is such a big country...you need much time to travel around.
Finland is close to sweden: get there by ferry from stockholm (cheap and fun...beware drunk people on the boat).

I've been in the so called flogsta area. About 12 buildings, 6 floor, each floor 2 corridor, each corridor 12 rooms...common kitchen and dining room. We had cable tv subscription...good to have during winter time!

Katalin Jazz Club: good music. O'connor pub: good beer (brewed in uppsala as well). Don't miss valborg fest. Take pleny of pictures...you will miss Uppsala (as I do even after years)
