The Opportunity:
Smurfit WestRock is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Advanced Manufacturing Technicians (AMT) through the FAME program. This role is designed for individuals who want to build a strong technical foundation and develop into global-best, entry-level technicians. As an AMT, you will gain hands-on experience in industrial maintenance and manufacturing, including assembly, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and process improvement.
A typical day involves working with automated, servo-mechanical, and electromechanical systems, performing preventive maintenance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence. This program prepares you for a career in advanced manufacturing with opportunities to grow into roles such as engineering technician, process improvement specialist, or industrial maintenance technician.
How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock:
* Perform planned maintenance and troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems.
* Support process improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure safe and effective operations across manufacturing lines.
* Apply technical knowledge to diagnose and resolve equipment issues promptly.
* Contribute to continuous improvement projects that drive operational excellence.
What You Need to Succeed:
Required Qualifications:
* Enrollment or completion of the FAME AMT program or equivalent technical training.
* Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods.
* Strong communication skills for documenting processes and collaborating with teams.
* Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems.
* Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and variable lighting conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with automated systems and prototype testing.
* Familiarity with systems analysis and maintenance procedures.
* Industry certifications such as PMMI Mechatronics or similar.
