About the team:
As a vital part of Mercer's Insurance Solutions team, you will play a key role in driving growth in both advisory and asset-based revenue across Europe's insurance segment. What you can expect:
* Take accountability for driving end-to-end business development and achieving assigned new revenue targets for Mercer's insurance investment solutions across Europe, focusing on insurance balance-sheet solutions and distribution partnerships.
* Contribute senior sales expertise to support a targeted 20% CAGR for the insurance segment through 2030 and help diversify revenue across non-pension business lines.
* Originate, qualify, structure, negotiate, and close opportunities while collaborating closely with Global Insurance, regional Wealth & Investment teams, and cross-functional partners to deliver client solutions and grow AUM.
We will rely on you to:
* Implement the regional Insurance sales strategy as guided by the Head of Insurance Sales, translating strategic priorities into actionable account and territory plans.
* Manage an active sales pipeline from prospecting through to close, ensuring accurate forecasting and CRM maintenance.
* Apply disciplined opportunity qualification and deal economics to promote profitable growth aligned with Mercer's risk and compliance standards.
* Identify market opportunities in balance-sheet solutions and distribution partnerships that align with regional growth plans and firm priorities.
* Lead sales activities to originate and close new insurer clients and strategic distribution partnerships across Europe.
* Build and nurture senior relationships with insurer decision-makers and distribution partners to establish repeatable, scalable revenue streams.
* Design client solutions addressing insurers' investment objectives, balance-sheet constraints, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Solvency II, IFRS).
* Coordinate with central and local marketing, and Global Insurance, to execute targeted go-to-market initiatives and proposition campaigns.
* Leverage Marsh McLennan intersections to facilitate introductions, referrals, and cross-selling opportunities.
* Represent Mercer's insurance investment capabilities in market and internal forums.
* Collaborate with the Head of Insurance Sales to engage local teams and subject-matter experts supporting deal delivery.
* Support the development of commercial talent locally and regionally, advancing DEI priorities and fostering inclusive teaming.
* Build strong working relationships with Product, Investment, Consulting, Legal, Compliance, and Sales colleagues to ensure high-quality client outcomes.
What you need to have:
* At least 7 years of senior business development or sales experience focused on insurance investors, balance-sheet solutions, and/or distribution partnerships across European markets, with a proven record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
* Established senior commercial relationships with insurers and distribution partners across Europe and a history of closing strategic deals.
* Solid understanding of insurance investment objectives, capital/regulatory drivers (Solvency II, IFRS, and local regimes), ALM considerations, and insurer buying processes.
* Strong end-to-end sales skills (origination, solution design, negotiation, close), commercial acumen, and deal structuring expertise.
* Ability to execute regional go-to-market plans, prioritise accounts, and identify scalable distribution models while maintaining discipline and focus on outcomes.
* Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; professional credentials (e.g., CFA) are desirable.
* Fluency in English; proficiency in one or more major European languages (German, French, Italian, Spanish) is strongly preferred.
* Willingness to travel regularly across Europe.
