At Grand Hyatt Barcelona, one of the city's newest luxury landmarks, we are looking for a passionate, detail-oriented, and motivated Pastry Commis Chef to join our Culinary team on a full-time indefinite contract (40 hours per week).

About the Role
As a Pastry Commis Chef at Grand Hyatt Barcelona, you will play an important role in supporting the Pastry team in the preparation and presentation of high-quality desserts, baked goods, and pastries in line with Hyatt standards.
This is an operational full-time position (40 hours per week) offered on an indefinite contract, with rotating shifts according to hotel needs, including weekends and public holidays. You will work closely with the Pastry and broader Culinary team, contributing to daily kitchen operations in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Pastry Commis Chef supports the preparation and production of pastry items while maintaining the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and consistency. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Assisting in the preparation and production of desserts, pastries, and baked goods
* Following recipes and presentation standards set by the Pastry Chef
* Preparing ingredients, measuring, mixing, and baking as required
* Ensuring all food items are prepared and presented according to Hyatt brand standards
* Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen and workstations
* Ensuring proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients (FIFO)
* Supporting mise en place for daily service and special events
* Monitoring product quality and reporting any inconsistencies
* Following health, safety, and food hygiene regulations at all times
* Minimizing waste and using ingredients efficiently
* Assisting with stock control and inventory as required
* Maintaining kitchen equipment in good condition and reporting any issues
* Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations
* Performing other duties as assigned by the Pastry Chef or management
Ihr Profil:
Qualifications & Requirements
* Previous experience in a pastry or kitchen role is preferred (internships or training included)
* Basic knowledge of pastry techniques, baking, and dessert preparation
* Passion for pastry and a strong desire to learn and develop culinary skills
* Attention to detail and commitment to quality and presentation
* Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen practices
* Professional attitude and willingness to follow instructions and standards
* Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform an active role
* Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
* Basic communication skills in Spanish (English is a plus)
