Job Description

Responsible for optimizing customer processes and conditions while providing education to external customers on how to run Avient materials. Tooling design and flow modeling. Troubleshoot issues that are raised by the customer. May be accountable for or participate in the resolution of customer complaints. May also be responsible for developing a new application or product launch testing plan and procedure, data analysis, and communication of results. Three plus years direct, relevant experience with the ability to operate with little to no direction.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

* Participate in development of new application, product launch testing plan, data analysis, and/or communication of results.
* Develop technical specifications required for established Avient customers.
* Documentation and preparation of product specifications incorporating Avient products and services into customer applications.
* Participates in resolution of customer complaints/issues.

Qualifications

Essential Functions

* Ability to interview and document customer application needs
* Communicate effectively and provide material / development recommendations by conducting core team reviews
* Create product part, mold tooling and processing / troubleshooting literature for each product line
* Attend process trials of new and existing products and document feedback
* Engage customers on quality issues as well as process and technology questions
* Construct presentations and provide processing and design training to the customer
* Additional support as needed to internal customers - Sales, Product Management, Technology, Manufacturing.
* Familiarization of current and legacy product portfolio
* Injection mold and extrude parts for internal and commercial needs
* Work with cross-functional teams to identify new material applications and markets
* Perform process optimization studies
* Other duties as assigned

Education And Experience

* Bachelors in Plastics Engineering, polymer science, chemistry or related Engineering field required.
* Advanced degree or experience a plus
* 3+ year's related experience (including internship/co-op experience) preferred
* Injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming experience a plus

Technical Competence

* Understanding of plastics materials and processing (injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, etc.)
* Capability to think outside the box and work on cutting edge concepts
* Performs work with speed and accuracy
* Adheres to internal Avient policies and rules
* Interprets Technical Data sheets (TDS) / Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and provides proper instruction
* Proficiency with CAE (SolidWorks, Moldflow and FEA) software is a plus

* Strong communication skills in English required, both oral and written (technical and non-technical)
* Able to present ideas and results in a logical manner
* Receptive to ideas and feedback
* Responds to emails/calls and provides detailed reports in appropriate fashion and timeframe
