Job Description:
Job Title: HR Performance Manager
Introduction to role:
Are you ready to turn performance data into decisions that shape where we invest and how we deliver for patients? In this role, you will convert signals from across HR into clear choices, helping leaders prioritise the work that creates the most value for our people and our business. You will bring a commercial lens to every analysis and ensure insight translates into action that moves the needle.
This opportunity goes beyond reporting. You will build insight-led dashboards and performance packs, challenge assumptions with evidence, and guide investment trade-offs in governance forums. You will simplify and automate recurring reporting, raise data quality and consistency, and make it effortless for senior stakeholders to see value delivered and risks emerging. Do you enjoy spotting patterns in fragmented data and moving conversations from analysis to decision?
Accountabilities:
- Insight to Action: Own performance analysis for defined HR Centres of Excellence and portfolio areas, identifying trends, risks and opportunities, and translating findings into clear recommendations with follow-through to impact.
- Portfolio Decision Support: Prepare robust analysis and prioritisation insight for governance forums, informing trade-offs and supporting investment decisions in spaces such as the Portfolio Strategy Board and HR leadership discussions.
- Decision-Ready Outputs: Build dashboards, reporting packs and presentations that tell a concise story, distilling complex or fragmented data into simple narratives tailored for senior stakeholders.
- Data and Ways of Working Improvement: Simplify reporting processes, improve data quality and consistency, and advance automation to create scalable, repeatable solutions across recurring performance activities.
- ROI and Value Measurement: Develop and support methods to track impact, benefits realisation and value delivery across HR initiatives, enabling fact-based decisions and visible outcomes.
- Planning and Governance: Provide performance insight, trend analysis and data to inform prioritisation, planning and resource allocation during annual and in-year cycles.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with senior stakeholders, project leads and CoEs to challenge assumptions, shape decisions and convert performance insight into concrete action.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Deliver focused analysis across portfolio performance, risk reporting and business continuity topics as required.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Analytical capability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous issues, interpret data in context and identify what matters most.
- Commercial mindset: Strong understanding of cost, ROI, value and trade-offs, with the ability to apply commercial thinking to performance analysis and portfolio decisions.
- Relevant experience: Typically 2-5 years' of relevant experience for the role in analytics, consulting, performance management, or similar insight-led roles, ideally in cross-functional environments.
- Performance measurement: Experience working with KPIs, metrics, SLAs or performance frameworks, with a track record of producing analysis that informs decisions and improves outcomes.
- Technical capability: Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI and PowerPoint. Experience with Smartsheet and familiarity with structured project or portfolio methodologies would be advantageous.
- Delivery focus: Demonstrated ability to take ownership, manage priorities effectively and deliver outcomes at pace, not just analysis.
- Stakeholder engagement: Confidence working with senior stakeholders and facilitating discussions that move from data to decision and action.
- Communication: Clear and credible communicator, able to translate complex data into simple, compelling insight.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- HR knowledge: Experience working across HR CoE areas.
- Broader business understanding: Knowledge of AstraZeneca business operations outside HR.
- Operating model exposure: Experience of shared services environments.
- Procurement knowledge: Exposure to procurement processes.
- Consulting or analyst background: A consulting or analyst background would be valuable given the focus on structured problem-solving and decision support.
- AZ ways of working: Familiarity with the AZ Project Management framework would be an advantage.
