Position Summary
The Technical Coordinator leads site training, qualification, and certification activities to ensure operators and craft employees develop and maintain the technical capabilities required to achieve safety, quality, and performance objectives. Reporting directly to the Site General Manager, with a dotted-line relationship to Operations Learning & Development, this role serves as a key training partner to site leadership and team members.
This position exercises independent judgment in assessing employee proficiency, coaching and developing team members, administering certification requirements, and driving continuous improvement in training content, processes, and delivery methods.
Work Schedule
* Primary schedule: 1st Shift (approximately 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM)
* Training activities are primarily conducted on 1st Shift.
* Candidates must be flexible and willing to support 2nd and 3rd Shift training needs as business requirements dictate.
* New hire onboarding typically occurs during the first several weeks of employment on 1st Shift.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, deliver, and oversee technical training and qualification activities to ensure employees achieve certifications in a timely and compliant manner.
* Partner with Operations Learning & Development and site leadership to design and execute onboarding and new-hire integration plans.
* Track, evaluate, and report training effectiveness through established metrics, audits, and learning systems; recommend corrective actions as needed.
* Direct and assign work during training and certification activities, determining training priorities and adjusting assignments based on operational needs.
* Develop, maintain, and continuously improve site learning content, including SOPs, guided workflows, technical job aids, and training materials.
* Build strong working relationships with trainees and leaders while serving as a trusted advisor who promotes safe, high-quality work practices.
* Support talent acquisition efforts by evaluating candidate capabilities, participating in structured interviews, and providing recommendations to hiring leaders.
* Lead technical evaluations of candidates and provide hiring recommendations relied upon by management in selection decisions.
* Ensure training support aligns with business needs, including flexibility to provide coaching and qualification support outside standard hours when required.
* Exercise authority to remove employees from work assignments when safety or performance concerns are identified and initiate appropriate follow-up actions.
* Maintain trainer qualifications (e.g., Train-the-Trainer certifications) and oversee day-to-day administration of certification processes to ensure consistency and compliance.
* Provide performance documentation and feedback used by management in decisions related to employee progression, qualification status, and employment actions.
* Support site priorities through additional responsibilities, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.

Technical Experience
* Experience leading technical training, facilitation, coaching, and/or on-the-job instruction in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
* Experience administering qualification or certification programs, including training plans, skill assessments, documentation, and audit readiness, preferred.
* Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training record-keeping processes.
* Ability to maintain accurate training data and generate routine metrics and reporting.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Forms) with the ability to create training materials and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
