Although I marked that I knew the everyday language before I left, I had bever used it and therefore it was quite difficult for me in the beginning to speak and to understand what people said to me. I learned quite fast and I really learned a lot, although I still sometimes face problems with the language.

When I arrived I could speak the language but doing lots of mistakes and using a very stronge mother-tongue landuage. After a month I noticed I was able to attemp lessons at school without any effort and having conversations understanding and being understood. Not only I obtained useful knowledge to my academic skills but also did I learn french.

At first it was a little intimidating going to France and only have taken a semester of French. I loved the cultural immersion.

before going to strabourg, i could speak the basic french, after my ERASMUS I acquired everyday knowledge. Some of my classes were in english (what wasn't a problem for me) and others in french, but was ok because the teachers were very understandably and nice with foreign students.

You will end up speaking a lot of english, unless you try hard to speak french all the time. If you are there long enough, this won't matter and you will speak french and have an amazing time.

My french improved without me even realising it. Everyday converstaion is easy now but I still find it difficult to communicate any problems eg in the bank, with my college courses.
