Sometimes, as you re not familiar with it in advance, some things DO surprise..for example, we agreed with my employer that they pay first wages by cheque..So I go to the bank with that cheque..but something s not ok..so I have to wait that money a very long time..with no money, basically..Generally, from finnish perspective, it seems that a french administration is quite..different..All in all, these bank adventures we re quite often very surprising..also, those bank machines ate my Credit Lyonnais card..and it took SO long to get a new one..but hey..it s just fun..at least looking in hindsight..

I wish I had known...
Nothing particular..just these basic things for everyone who thinks going for studies in France..like, the more you know French, the more it turns easier for you everywhere..and, like, expect the unexpected in all administrative hassles..you know..and of course..it s good to do pre-work for getting a nice amount of money getting with..

Hmm..starting to forget..ok, Le Piano Vache. A great rock club. I held my farewell parties around there. Le Truskel, another cool place with nice DJ s. Le Fleche D or. very cool place. nice vibes. Le Triptyque. Going electro. Chic concerts for every night. Elysee Montmartre..Bataclan..Nouveau Casino..Cinema IS Paris..Nice film festivals, like in the summertime one which takes about month..and some cool movies everywhere..Fete de la Musique..People everywhere playing, singing..All the fine restaurants..you have to eat well in Paris..and drink lots of wine..even the cheap ones..Indian Cafe was the cafe in Republique..It s located quite nicely as the urban traffic lights go ahead constantly..Oberkampf as a quartier..tres chic..Montmartre is always special..Cite Universitaire is a cool student place..if you re a student going to Paris, I recommend trying to get a room there..Only you have to be very in advance with it..arts and paris yes, with exhibitions all over..I lived most of the time in Porte de Montreuil, 20e arrondissement..Personally, that s the Paris which makes the most for me..it s very edgy, not so clean on surface..not so polished..a great atmosphere..great people..

Course recommendations
If you want to learn the local language, do not be scared and choose subjects in that language. Otherwise choose english courses, but especially in France you will find difficulties understanding the accent with which many teachers speak.
