The halls of residences are not owned by the university, but by private organisations. They are generally in very good condition, and are very reasonably priced, but tend to differ significantly between one another. I stayed at the international halles, the Julius Raab Heim. It was very well furnished with adequate facilities, but with excellent amenities. There is a cafe and a swimming pool, however this is mainly due to the fact that the halls double as a hotel. Organisation is very beaurocratic and tight, however we found our way round most problems. Tips: To have a glass of Sangria ready if the porter comes to turn the music down. Have parties in the boys kitchens as these do not face on the residents side.

I would choose to live there because they are cheap and you meet alot of people your own age there as well. They are nice to live in at the start of your time there because you need to get to know some people.

The accommadation at the university was very nice. The room I lived in had eveything I need but an oven but we managed without that. Our room was cleaned once a week and our bed clothes, which they supllied was washed every second week, so it was a very clean place to live.

Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Simply for the reason that the Management, seemed to frown on International students living there. It was very strict!! And there were regular invasions of privacy!

Housing in general is of a high standard. For an international student, I would reccommend to stay at the Raab Heim. The KHG and ESH are more relaxed settings where one can get to meet a lot of native Austrians

I was lucky on the one hand to be in the international halls. However, as a lot of the students didn't speak german, we ended up speaking english a lot of the time which was not very beneficial to me as I am a native speaker.

You are treated like kids because of the silly Catholic rules that they have. In a flat I would have an oven in the kitchen.

The accomodation is okay itself for what we pay. It a bit big and there isn't a friendly atmosphere like at home in Scotland.

Living at the campus was a good way to meet other people, but was also difficult when you preferred being alone to study for example.
