Food is definately more expensive than in Portugal - especially meat and fish. In telephone I spent less here because I use it less than at home. Nightlife is more expensive but I also had more nightlife here than i have at home. I travelled a lot visiting Finland's neighboring countries. Overall, life is more expensive but not as much as i expected.

Well the cimema is expensive but you can find cheaper prices in some students offices; alcohol is expensive but you can´t change it (or prepare your own wine or beer: it´s really common here!) ank return your bottles to save some money!!!! Show your student card as often as you can! When you arrive don´t buy the first postcards you find just wait and find the cheaper (about 1 FIM)...Believe me I know what I´m talking about!!!

Daily expenses are always more expensive than in France, and the country is under taxation for special goods (alcohol). Transportation and cinema are also expensive, but you can get a discount with the student card.

When friends come to visit you tell them to bring good meat and alcoholic drinks, since they are much more expensive in Finland.

show your student card to the sales person; cheap haircut at the polytechnics (if the students mess it up, the instructor will do their best to save what's left:-)
