The faculty i was based in at this university was situated in ingolstadt about 30 mins drive from Eichstaett, the where the main university is situated. Ingolstadt has quite a few good bars and a very large number of nice cafes. Night: Havana bar Hemmingway Sausalitos amadeus l'evento cafe: pata nosta Plus a large number of good bier gardens.. can't be missed. the town is small!

EAT AT ANY KIOSK (IMBISS) TO CUT DOWN ON EXPENSES. THE STUDENT CAFE WAS INEXPENSIVE COMPARED TO RESTURANTS. BUY YOUR FOOD AT THE GROCERY STORES ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF TOWN. PURCHASE A STUDENT "JUGEND PASS" FOR THE TRAIN - INSTEAD OF EURORAIL PASS.

ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS AT THE UNIVERSITY WERE A CONSTANT SOURCE OF CONFUSION DURING THE FIRST SEMESTER. IT DID IMPROVE WITH TIME, HOWEVER. THE US UNIVERSITY TRIED TO HELP WITH INTEGRATION AND GAVE COURSES IN 'CULTURAL AWARENESS' AS A PRE-REQUISITE TO STUDY ABROAD. ONCE WE HAD LEFT THE HOST UNIVERSITY WE WERE PRETTY MUCH ON OUR OWN.

It was very hard for about first month -month and a half but then slowly was able to get into the language. The most essential factor was the ability to practice it with the fellow students. In the university itself, there hardly was any opportunity to use my language knowledge apart from the exams in the end of the semester.

The prices were lower in Germany than in England. I can say that I've spent almost double less in Ingolstadt (business faculty of the university was in that city) than in London.

If you need to use trains in order to get to your university, buy a BahnCard (saves a lot!). Furnished apartment are almost double price and are hard to find
