Life costs in this little town were lower than in my city in Italy. Rents are lower in Germany than in Italy. Disco's entrances costed 2,50-5,00 euros compared to the expensive costs of 12-16 euros in Italy. Beer costed the same as water with discounts for students, but people prefered drinking tap water.

Copies for academic books were expensive, you couldn't copy an entire edition because of author's rights. Academic books were also very expensive but not always demanded from professors who gave students lots of slides and copies to study.

EAT AT ANY KIOSK (IMBISS) TO CUT DOWN ON EXPENSES. THE STUDENT CAFE WAS INEXPENSIVE COMPARED TO RESTURANTS. BUY YOUR FOOD AT THE GROCERY STORES ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF TOWN. PURCHASE A STUDENT "JUGEND PASS" FOR THE TRAIN - INSTEAD OF EURORAIL PASS.

The prices were lower in Germany than in England. I can say that I've spent almost double less in Ingolstadt (business faculty of the university was in that city) than in London.

food and general items in the shops are cheaper than in the uk, but because i was having such a good social life, i ended up spending a lot of money going out. i also used the phone a lot more than i would have done in england and i travelled a lot too which is obviously expensive but nevertheless cheaper than it would have been in england!
