STEM geared school

United States, Undergraduate
Literature, 2023
Overall
My experience at Tufts has been okay. The university feels STEM focused, something I did not realize until after enrolling. The humanities programs are lacking funding and inspired students. As an English major, this has been disappointing. I've made wonderful friends, am involved in plenty of interesting clubs, and admire the professors I've taken classes with, but wish there was more enthusiasm, both from students and the university, in what I'm interested in. Perhaps just the wrong choice for me, personally.

Overall
Was a long time ago, but the professors were very engaged, the students helped each other and were not just competitive.  Students were very bright and hard working.  Professors that taught at Harvard and Tufts said they enjoyed teaching the students at Tufts better because students were more about learning and more collaborative.

I wish I had known...
Nothing, actually, since the stay was fairly short and there was little to surprise me anyway, as I had been in Boston previously.

I had a great time here, the faculty staff was very kind and the professor I had was absolutely excellent: Sos Agaian. If you can ever take a course with this man, do it!!

If you happen to go anywhere in the surrounding area of Boston, don't waste your time: there are so many activities to do, so many things to see... try to maximize your usage of your time or you will regret it when you are gone!!

I wish I had known...
It would have been helpful to know that American Graduate Students come with several years of work experience. Not having the necessary related work experience makes it very difficult for me to find an appropriate job in my field, despite the fact that I have a Master's Degree.

A particular place where people from all over the world with the most exciting backgrounds meet. Fletcher Students specialize in different fields, which does not make them potential competitors for the same jobs.
