My favourite social event during my stay in the host country was the cinema. In Sabadell where I lived there were many cinemas. For events or bars it was best to go to Barcelona but I didn´t go to often.

With very few exceptions, they expect you to speak catalan although spanish & catalan are both official languages. If they'd been nicer I probably would have made the effort, but that was not the case.
