“Muy Satisfactorio”

Overall

Housing
Type of housing: Colegio Mayor
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Mixed Colegio Mayor
Why?
Private residences in Spain are great because they tend to be 99% Spanish kids, with lots of activities organised there is every opportunity to integrate and make a lot of Spanish friends. On the down side they love to know everyone's stories and living in a single sex residence is not cool. Find a mixed Colegio Mayor are you are laughing. Isabel La Catolica looks good mixed. Spanish are a lot of fun - the Andaluz boys would play guitar and sing flamenco at all our barbeque parties I loved it.

Personal comments
No university accomodation. Arrange in May/June time for a private residence. Otherwise arrive a couple of weeks early and really beautiful places can be found around Plaza Nueva. Trees are always covered in ads for flat-shares during the first term.

I wish I had known...
it was a very tiresome task trying to register for the university, all offices/banks etc close at 2pm for the day and there was a lot of running around from one office to the other.

In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
Life in this university is quite different to that at home in ireland, there are not much socializing or events organised by the college, you make a lot of your own fun by meeting up in cafes, bars, going for ice-cream or tapas. It can be very difficult to get in contact with your lecturers outside class but persistence pays off!

There is a great bus service to and from Granada linking most major cities so get on a bus and see Spain! Buses also run to the ski slopes during winter and there are regular buses to the coast. Just do, see and experience everything!

Undertake as much as you can by yourself. It is the way to learn the most about a culture, to meet interesting people and save lots of money.
