Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
The cost of living in your own apartment in Granada is not prohibitive, provided that you share with others. Then you have the added freedom that comes with living on your own. If you get there early there are some very good deals on apartments.

I have no comment on the university housing. As far as I know it wasn't even open to foreign students.

Often you can choose the people you want to live with. It's good fun and you get the possibility to learn how to live in a totally independent way in the good - partynig , partying partying!!- and bad things....:-) -cleaning up the day after...:-)

The university provides a housing service with a list of names and addresses you can contac. There are many flat adverts in phone boxes and all around the city as well. Better not to turn for help at the locale estate agent,...much more expensive!

I wish I had known...
Prepare to have a lot of bureaucracy when settling in! Everything requires more time than at home.

To Spanish standards seems to be okay. Be prepared to the fact that there is a lot of bureaucracy and you have wait and run about to get things sorted out. It's basically every exchange student for him/herself. Study office was not very helpful (rarely even there!)

Granada is a small place but there is a lot to see. Its location in great - near the mountains, near the beach. So be sure to travel! Spanish skills are helpful almost everyone so learn at least basic phrases beforehand.

well, as I love asian food, my favourite restaurants are the Japanese ones. they are also the most clean ones. and also Mexican food is quite good here. well, my favourite nightclub was "el Camborio" and the best bar "Bella y Bestia", which serves the best tapas:)) oh, and d'Cuadros - the bar to go for a glass of strawberry wine and nice music.
