During my stay in Paris I learned it is most important to be comfortable and confident in your language skills and to put them to use as often as possible. Even though most French spoke much better English than I did French, they were usually patient and helpful. There is no need to be embarrassed, as I often was. Speaking a language in real life experiences is the only way to learn it.

Parisians in general speak very quickly, particularly the younger generations. Also, there are what seem like millions of new slang words every day.
