I wish I had known...
I wish I knew the subject choosing system better, before I chose my subject for the first semester. However choosing the subjects for the second semester I knew the system very well.
In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.

Definitely learning a different language in the country which speaks that language will speed up the process three times faster than trying to learn it in a class room in a country which does not speak the language in which you are learning.

Compared to my home-town university, which is very large, and where th relationships between the students and the professors are more formal, the Bayreuth Universitaet offered a more familiar atmosphere and more reliable services for the students. The professors worked very closely with the singol students on a one to one base.

My experience at the University of Bayreuth
Arianit B
Germany, Graduate
Economics, 2022
Overall
My Master at the University of Bayreuth has been a great experience for me. The overall high quality of education at the University of Bayreuth and the warm environment for International Students makes it a perfect Institution to study either as a German student or as an International. I have improved my German skills during my Master degree by communicating with  German students and also I have had the opportunity to participate in many other things that the University of Bayreuth offers. The degree of Philosophy and Economics I think was very helpful to prepare me for an Internship.
Pros
Challenging, Inducing self-study, variety of courses, opportunity to participate in language courses, sports, research seminars
Cons
None

Overall
Studying Philosphy & Economics in Bayreuth provides a great opportunity to dive into a very diverse field of topics:
Philosophy: Philosophy of Science, -Economics, Analysis, Logic...
Economics: Micro-, Macroeconomics, Econometrics & empirical mehtods, Behavioural Economics...
Business: Marketing, Accounting (rather basic)
Other: Statistics, basic programming and ML skills, Politics and many more...
The university's international relations allow for amazing opportunities to spend semesters abroad.
The Teaching staff and especially the student community is very supportive and social live has a family vibe to it.
Pros
Small and familiar environment, great nature, great bar scene, fränkisch food
Cons
Rather provincial area, next metropolitan area (Nürnberg) is about an hour away (car/train)
