Academic
Course recommendations
The Economics Faculty has got a very high level, sometimes it´s hard to follow the courses, and lessons are sometimes 6 hours per week, so it´s better not to take too many courses.

At my home university I have a very similar academic life, so it wasn´t surprising for me that students work hard and consider the university very seriously

Personal comments
All the courses (Industrial Economy, Macroeconomics, Public Finance..) were in English, I think it´s neccesary to speak English if you study Economics. Learning German was easy because every day I met many austrian students, in fact most of them were really interested in knowing more about my home culture and habits.

Overall
I wish I had known...
I wish I had known that Law Faculty was beside Economics Faculty, I would have studied more law courses (because I´m studying Law and Economics). Apart from that I was well-informed thanks to the university web and previous contacts with local students.

Personal recommendation
For housing, I would suggest to apply in ÖAD, the student housing service, they will deal with the residence which best fits for you. And talk to the Erasmus Association, they organise travels, parties and other events.

If you live in Vienna you will be close to surprising cities in East Europe, like Prague (magic place not to be missed), Bratislava, Budapest (one of the most beautiful cities I´ve ever been). Vienna´s town council organises lots of cultural events, concerts, street markets...

Erasmus grant is too little, you can´t live only with it. My residence was a surprise for me, because it was quite good and costs only 250 € per month. Maybe the best cost-saving tip is not going clubbing too often.

There are many clubs along the Ring (Vienna´s center is surrounded by a big ring), like Chelsea (with great life concerts) or B72. But the place to go is Flex, near the Danube canal, with funny partys and other events. Vienna is the city of cafes as well. In Hawelka Cafe (Dorotheergasse) you can enjoy the traditional atmosphere of an austrian cafe. I also enjoyed Hummel cafe (Josefstädterstrasse) and Kandinsky cafe (Lerchenfelder Straße, near Pfeilheim, my residence).
