CEMS master at LSM highly reccomended
Serena G
Italy, Graduate
Business Studies, 2022
Overall
If you are considering to attend a master in International Management, the best you can find is for sure the CEMS one. It is carried on by several among the most prestigiuos universities around the world, such as LSE, Cornell University, HEC Paris, the University of Sidney, Bocconi, University of St. Gallen and ESADE. In most of these universities there are very high fees and a huge competition to enter the CESM course. If you are a non-Belgian student (I think it's easier to access the course if you are an international student) and don't have a huge budget, I suggest you to try the application to the CEMS at Louvain School of Management. Then you can spend two semesters abroad in two different universities among the ones mentioned above. In Louvain-la-Neuve there are a lot high-quality sport facilities that you can access for just 50€ per year and free language courses. In addition, you can taste spectacular waffles and you are close enought to enjoy the night life in Bruxelles. Cons are the fact that sometimes the university lack in the organization and that in the university offices external to the CEMS program, personnel know few English and often answer you to the email just in French. In addition, te majority of corporate partners are from the Benelux macroregion, thus if you don't speak French or Duch, it is quite difficult to find an internship with them.

I wish I had known...
If you go there as an independant student (not with an exchange programm) you receive no financial help from Belgium, neither from France (except if you usually receive a grant from the french government. (rem: don't forget to ask for a cut in your subscribing fee at the beginning of the year).

Go there but be careful to your studes: it's too easy to forget studying while you're here, and then you have too many to do just 2 weeks before the exams. Work regularly, and enjoy this particular student life.

I wish I had known that it is so difficult to find a flat in Louvain-la-Neuve. If I had known that before I would have reserved a flat well in advance

Ongoing students should reserve a flat in advance and take a Filiere as a course. First of all it gives you 15 ECTS. Furthermore it deals with a specific business topic and has alimited number of participants

Brussels, Bruges, Gent are very beautiful cities and absolutely worth a visit. Apart fromthat you should check out the flights offered by Wizzair and Ryanair. they are cheap and give you the opportunity to visit beautiful European cities like Stockholm, Dublin, Barcelona, Milano, Glasgow, Venice, Warsaw, Budapest

My travel favorites were Bruges/Brugge, Namur and Anvers/Antwerpen and with the go-pass, traveling is cheaper. Don´t be late for trains, they might leave at another platform as foreseen.
