Although it's quite expensive and very hard to find a decent one, it's still the best choice. You are very independent in your own appartment and can experience the difficulties which await you when renting an appartment in a foreign country. It's a great feeling when you have managed to handle this situation successfully.

I was lucky enough to be able to share the appartment with another student from Paris III, which made for a fantastic experience! If you're looking for independent accomodation around Paris, colocation is definitely worth consideration. Proximity to your host university is also a plus, although the great public transport in central Paris means that it isn't hugely necessary.

People in Paris will rent anything, so it's really hard to find a good room.
