I participated in a 'tandem-partner' scheme, which comprised of pairing up with a native German speaker, who wanted to improve his/her English language skills. We met in social situations, and took it in turns to speak either German or English. This was a massive advantage, as the situation encouraged natural conversation, and was encouraging if you felt nervous or uncomfortable speaking another language.

I can't comment about something that I didn't experienced before. Lets wait until the end of0 Erasmus program that will begin from next October onwards until July then I can comment about it.

I learned a lot though I spent a lot of time with other international student and sometimes spoke other languages with them.

German has been my second language throughout my life, it is just a bit more difficult when heavy dialects/ slang are used, and is difficult for me in academic situations.

i did not speak german before arriving but now i can say somethings the german course for beginners at the university was so stupid 3 hours per week and 30 or 40 people coming from italy spain and france all together in the same class we always spoke in our language
