It is a good place to study. Facilities are good and, at least in my area, the academic level is very good. It is a very international university too, with more than 50% of the students coming from abroad, mostly from other European countries.

Canterbury is a fine but small city. For those demanding the "big life" of a big city it may become too small. On the other hand London is only 1 hour 45' away. Going to the Continent, mainly France, Belgium and The Netherlands, is very easy and not too expensive: Paris and Brussels are around 3 hours away. Not entirely unimportant, the weather here is much better than in other regions of GB.

TRY TO VISIT AND SPEAK WITH STUDENTS FIRST, ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS TO MAKE SURE IT IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IN A GRADUATE SCHOOL.

London is very near, you should use that. I went to Cornwall and Scotland from there and had great fun! Try to get a private insurance that insures you in a foreign country. The NHS treatment at the medical centre is a joke. Better go somewhere private.

It's a very good place for studying international relations, teachers are well prepared, helpful and with good reputation. Good social clubs. University a little isolated as it is outside the city of Canterbury.

The sports clubs are excellent and more than just sport gatherings. I was a member of the Mountaneering club and even if I'm not a sports freak I enjoyed very much meeting people from many countries within this club. Especially because the University location is quite isolated, these clubs are very important in terms of social life.

if you're musical, The university of Kent is perfect for you. The choir, conducted by Sue is great fun - I still miss it a lot!... If you're catholic or Christian or just looking for a lovely group of people or for brilliant week-end trips, step into St.John Stone House where the Chtholic Society meets. Mass on Sunday is followed by a Pot Luck Lunch in St. John Stone House; a unique opportunity to have a relaxed Sunday luchtime and afternoon.

You have to get involved in societies if you want to meet people, because there are so many students you could stay on your own if you don't go meet people.

Advice: keep in touch with your family and friends from your home country without going back there too much, to be able to fully live the experience. Watch out sterotypes and make too many sweeping statements.
