My skills in English were very good before I came to Leeds, but the fact that I lived with other English students and heard English every day helped me improve my skills considerably. I also had to write a lot of essays, and this helped me improve my written English. I never had any major problems in this area.

In the UK they speak English. But every part has their own slang and dialect. Scotland is so very different from Ireland and when I was in London it was very different than Leeds. But you get use to it, and you learn lots of cool slang!

Since English is my first language, I didn't have to overcome a language barrier. However, British and Canadian vocab is very different and I had a great time playing with those differences in my interactions with my British friends.

my english improved quite a lot because i was forced to speak english everyday and all day long. It was a bit difficult to speak during the seminars because i was feeling shy and didn't feel like talking in public

At the begining i did not know so much english, but at the end iimproved so much. My flatmates were really kind and they helped me a lot, and also teached me¡¡ I really learnt talking with people and reading.
