The best place I ve ever been in my life, and take into account that I m from Spain was STOCKHOLM NATION, just to be a member of this Nation it is worth to stay in Uppsala for one year. I miss it every weekend since then. Prices were very "social" 45Kr to get in, if you arrive before 20h you don t pay, beers 27Kr, It was very cheap for Sweden. The best is the Spring Party, everybody speaks about this party very well. Unfortunately I had to go back to Spain. Uppsala is very beautiful the forest seems taking from fairy tale. The castle, the river, the threes everything was so different from Madrid that really shocked me. There is another caffe interesting TOBAK. Unfortunately basicly there is one supermarket chain ICA, they are monopolist they do whatever they want with prices. Another great places are "Warlmands", "Norrlands" maybe too big, "Snerikes". All arranged by University. If you wanna know more write me an e-mail, I m very willing to give details about life in Uppsala.

The social life at Uppsala is really great and everything happens within the confines of the student Nations. There are 13 Nations representing each one of the Swedish regions. Every night you can go out, either to a pub or to a club. My party itinerary: Tuesdays: Snerikes Wednesdays: V-Dala or Ostgota Thursdays: Stockholms Fridays: Vermlands Saturdays: V-dala Sundays: Snerikes Mondays: Varmlands but only after exams, once a month. My favourite nightspot was definitely Stockholms on Thursdays. You should definitely pick the Nation whose party you like the most. Mine was Stockholms, it's reputed for being the hippest and the one with the nicest girls :) You'll get in for free when it's your Nation or if you get ther before 8pm. The party starts at 10pm so you'll have time to spend what you saved at the bar, usually you can eat there too so if you can make ...

Well, where to begin?! I was a member of Ostgota Nation, a fairly alternative nation in a beautiful old house with a great bar and great food. It was a smaller nation than some of the others, but I liked that. There are particular nights when everyone goes to certain nations: eg. Wednesday - Ostgota, V-Dala (disco music), Thursday - Kalmar (great groovy tunes), Stockholm (techno), Friday - Varmlands, Saturday - V-Dala. The cafes in the nations are the best value for students. Great cakes and sandwiches and Swedish treats. Again different nations are open certain days. I didn't really venture out into the town for bars or restaurants, as it was way too expensive in comparison. As for events not to be missed - well, I would say Valborg except that I missed it! The Spring and Autumn balls are also really popular and a big deal. Other small ...

The best part of Uppsala is the social life. There is ALWAYS something happening. Student clubs are from Tuesday all the way through Saturday night. It does get a bit expensive, especially if you go out 3+ times a week! There are always parties in Flogsta as well, pretty much every night. The other great thing is the travel opportunities. You will have plenty of time to travel all over northern Europe: in one year I was able to see Norway (2x), pretty much all of Sweden, Denmark (2x), Estonia, Lithuania, Germany and Russia. Do NOT miss out on a chance to see Lappland, especially the part in Norway. Do NOT miss out on the weekend cruises to Tallinn or Riga, which can cost as little as 3€ per person!! Choose Norway over Sweden or Finland for travel, it has much more to offer.

Studentlife in Uppsala happens mainly within the studentnations. There is a nation for each region in Sweden. The nation is run by students who take care of there fellow students. The nations becomes your second home. The parties at the nations are amazing. The week is horizontally programmed, so each nation has its dance, disco or pub evening. That also goes for Fika (tea, coffee and snacks in the afternoon), movie-evenings , etc. Without the nations sweden is to expensive for going out. the thing not to miss, is a real gasque. A fancy dinner-evening with nice food, drinks, singing and afterwards dancing.

As this is a university is more than 500 years old there is real student life, we could say that the city centre is the campus as there are university buildings everywhere is the centre. There twelve houses in the centre that belong to student organisation. This house or nations as they are called take care of most of the night life and activities. The only thing I have done besides the organised activities is travelling to east Europe and in Sweden. Travelling could be done at really low cost so recommend doing so.
