Expenses
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
Personal savings
An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience
Personal spending habits
The lack of cooking facilities at Europa Haus meant that I had to eat out more than usual, purely through boredom of Pasta and Sauce all the time. Travel is obviously going to be more expensive to and from Germany, but also the need to spend DM51 a month on a travel card for the trams tends to grate after a while.

It is very easy to get money over from Britain, simply use ATM's, wiring money really isn't worth the hassle or cost.

my language proficiency level was already pretty good, but it's different when you are forced to be surrounded by the language at all time. Ease of speaking, slang, and fluency all increased, as well as the level of my 'book' German.

I owe most of my improvements to my flatmates who helped me with everything from pronounciation to grammar to vocabulary!

Throughout I felt that I could understand German, both written and oral, slightly better than I could speak it.
