Travel as much as you can - there are great deals to Morocco and Tunisia, and France is beautiful too! Try to arrange accommodation before you arrive (atleast stay with someone who can help you).

There's a really nice jazz bar in St Michel called "Caveaux des Oubliettes" (sorry if the spelling is wring!). It is a tiny place with different artists every night, best to go on the weekend. Great spot if you want to chill with your friends and listen to some good music. Good thing: free entry but you have to drink (which wasn't bad because the drinks were quite cheap!)
