I wish I had known...
Yes, that it really would not have been necessary to pay a private company to enroll me in school, set up my living arragements, etc. That I could have saved myself thousands and thousands of dollars if I would have gone 'independently'. And largely, the same opportunities as a student would have been open to me as all the other international students.

Its setting in the Alps is magnificent and perfect for those enthusiastic about the mountains. The program set up for international students is progressive, yet would benefit from certain additions and modifications.

What I enjoyed the most were the mountainous surroundings and the centrality of Grenoble. Switzerland, Italy and Spain were great destinations, if even just for a couple of days, being relatively close to Grenoble. High speed trains leave often from Grenoble making it a great starting point for any destination. The experience will perhaps remain unprecedented for much time to come.

The campus is located near the mountains so is very pleasing to the eye. good architecture if not slightly old. Course features a lot of contact hours. the teachers are very well versed on their subject. lessons take place in french.

To take advantage of every opportunity. To not worry so much about school and try to experience the culture and country on my own.

They try to educate you but also leave room for going out and seeing and meeting people/places. You'll learn more than in a classorom by doing this and they understand this. The classes were pretty easy for me but I was already pretty advanced in my language capabilities.

Meet as many people as you can....get out and travel, see the city you're in. Don't just hang out with other Americans. Try to meet students from your host country or other foreign students,. Live with a host family: the experience is much more rewarding in most cases.

Grenoble is a great city with a vibrant atmosphere with many international students and the location with a constant view on the beautiful French Alps (only 1 hour from the best ski resorts in Europe!) is excellent.
