Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Despite poor facilities on campus there are one main advantage: people. Most of the students are exchenge students that help both to find all needed information and to deal with a diverse international group of people every day.

As I mentioned above, facilities here are rather poor: rooms are small, there is no laundry, kitchen is not sufficiently equiped for such a big group of students and campus itself is located at the very end of the city. However, there are also facilities like gym, student restaurant and common room at every floor that are definitely an advantage. What is more, the house is clean.

I was generally pleased with my university residence. My room served all the functional purposes I needed and had a telephone line and free internet access in the room which was brilliant. The accommodation was fairly clean. The major disadvantage was the cooking facilities. Although the kitchens had fridges in them you couldn't keep your food in them as people stole it and there weren't any ovens either. But apart from that, I was satisfied with my accommodation.

Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: A room exchange
Why?
A better social experience, by having a closer contact with the people from the other rooms, also "living abroad" as students.

The housing was not the cleenest of places (although the common areas were clean at least once a week by a house maid), but had all the needed facilities. The rooms were fairly costed and in no way small, although the house was in an already quite old building. Combined with a good location (7 minutes by bycicle to University), however, it was an overall good housing.

Why?
Because as a student, living on campus, gives one the opportunity to have a much subsidized facilities that will make life pleasing and much comfortable, and most of these facilities (e.g internet)are provided at a very low cost. In addition, one avoids the likely problems of living with house owners if one has to go for private homes.

I just have to commend the university housing in all ramification. Its far much better off when compared with that of my home university.

I would chose the same because room at dormitory is the cheapest solution and there you can always meet there other students.

The standard of dormitories is not too high. Adventages of that kind of accomodation is good price, single room. Disadventages for sure only one fridge in the kitchen and rooms without toilet and shower ( but you can used to).

If you ever go to Gent, don't hesitate go to Guido's houses. The owner is like a father. Everybody does it.
