On cowgate and in this area there are plenty of pubs. I like Nichol Edwards, because it is little, cute and has live music every evening.

Clubs on cowgate, many coffeshops on Nicholson Street and the Royal Mile. Very cozy, people go there to study and socialise.

it dipends on who you go out with. anyway i like the brass monkey pub, the whistle binkies, the sandy bells, the last drop (and the other pubs in grassmarket)...bongo club if you like reggae...house parties are usually the cheapest and coolest thing to go to.
