We actually never went to a party organised by the university, because the first erasmus party in the beginning of the year was so horrible. I did meat a lot of Erasmus-students, but that was by going to bars as the Cock and Bull or the Houses of Parliament, and via other persons. We built up our own social life with hot spots, which were equally presented by French people and by foreign students. Good places to go have a drink are Chez Karl, le Pain et Ciel, Chez Pompom. If you want to have a nightlife, that can be a problem, because the real dancings are at the "quai" by the water, and are not so easy to get to, AND the close at 4am! In the centre however, you can have a great time at Chez Greg, Calle Ocho or bar Azuli if you like dancing. However, these places close, just like al bars at 2am!!

*Great japanese restaurant - Kimono *Good seafood restaurants - Monsieur Thibauds and Taverne de Talence *Best continental brunch in the city - Karls *Best English Pubs - Houses of Parliament and The Cock & Bull *Museums not to be missed - Musee D'Aquitaine, Vinorama Musee Du Vin, C.A.P.C (Musee D'Art Contemporain), Musee Des Arts Decoratifs, Centre Jean Moulin, La Base Sous Marine, Le Colbert *There are always plenty of outdoor events - music festivals, theatre, fower festivals etc on the streets of Bordeaux which should not be missed. The culture, the ambiance and the architecture make for a great experience.

For the night: "Au chat qui pêche"(Cours de la Marne); "La Lune dans le Caniveau" (Capucins) "Café des menuts" (St. Michel) Le Plana (Victoire). Do not go to "quais", close to the river: Pretty expensive, and so snob ambient in most of them. During the afternoon, all the Cafés in Place du Parlement ("Café Reno", "La Comtesse"). Go to dinner during the spring and summer to Quartier de St. Pierre. You have to visit places like Saint Émilion, not very far of Bordeaux, Saint Jean de Luz, and Sarlat, at three hours by train. Do not forget that the region has very good beaches.

Night spots: la lune and the discos in the "quais"; best cafes around "place de la victoire"; do not miss le jardin public, the lake, the ice track near hotel de ville and "le marché de noel" in december.
