italians really help to learn the language! if you ask they mainly try to speak slowlier and without dialect. as i also spent 8 months in france, where the french weren't that helpfull, i really appreciated that point. however, if there are any problems with the administration etc., you can always ask somebody of ase for help, they speak english, spanish aso.

Whilst I learnt to understand the language almost perfectly, I still found trouble speaking at times. This could be due to the fcat that italians talk non stop so it is quite hard to get a word in edgeways, especially if you have to think about it first.

Home students are very open and make the conversation easy even if you dont speak well. Most teachers are very understanding. Quite difficult to speak to strangers, but then you get used to it and realise that most people understand you.
